There’s a place for everyone... if you can get along.
A collection of fiercely independent star systems, the Free Worlds are a diverse collection of smaller political factions. Comprised primarily of abandoned colonies, political dissidents and bandit states, the Free Worlds are home to a wide variety of cultures and races. Though not united, the shifting alliances found among these balkanized factions allow them to maintain their collective sovereignty. Alliance or cooperation between free states is usually a matter of convenience and does not suggest a larger trend. Consolidated star systems are rare, governments are highly localized, and most habitable worlds are divided amongst multiple factions.
Free states exhibit diverse social, economic and philosophical systems. Most free states are considered unstable. Though self-reliant, distrust often maligns members of these groups as ’privateers’, or ’pirates’.
